Anything?
Hook them up to an old power supply and make a hovercraft? Maybe not a computer power supply.
Run them til they die
I use this old 200mm fan to cool my network switch. I've wired it in to an old USB plug which is connected to a charging port on my UPS to power it.
Before that I built this to cool my crappy wireless router, it's made using the mesh side panel from my case and a couple of gentle typhoon fans.
I used my dodgy USB to molex plug from this to power the 200mm fan from the first picture
cruel. I guess thats an option.
If only I had a problem cooling my networking stuff. Unfortunately I haven't yet gotten around to say a 50 watt router.
idk why i didnt think of that
Ultimately the cooling didn't do much, the router was junk and the stability issues I had with the switch were fixed in a firmware update. But it does get pretty hot in summer so I've kept it set up that way.
I was thinking cooling my lamp bc that thing gets really hot and I know I'm going to burn myself trying to turn it off.
Use them for cool side projects that require air flow or I give them to friends who could improve their own case airflow. Or if I don't do either of those I Take them apart for science.

I usually leave them in my old cases or the boxes they came in until I need them for a new build... I'll probably add a couple of fans to my server as I believe running multiple VMs concurrently will put the fanless heatsinks on my xeons to the test. Can't have too much cooling in my opinion.
Maybe in the future I'll have better ideas than just waiting for another build to come along, like helping to cool my projector.
It is not mine but this is what this guy does.
I usually use my old fans to fix airflow issues in customers cases. Charge them a few dollars. Ya , know the kid with his first gaming pc and one case fan. :)
one I'm using to cool an external hdd and I'm using an old xbox360 fat fan to cool my laptop.
LED bulb is the solution to that problem.
until LED bulbs actually give off light that isnt so harsh nope.
I keep them for projects or to replace busted ones in System i fix.
I run the fans til they die and I have never had one go on me yet.
Me to actually... I have 80mm Cooler Master from 9 years ago still pushing air in my parents PC...
I killed one fan... Bought it with cut cable with the idea of a mod, bit the mod failed and now I have a working 120mm Fractal SSR2 fan with no cable...
I collect them in a milkcrate, got about 9 so far
