When dealing with network hardware for example, or MC's and Roms I find it easier to use a 4-5 word passphrase with a couple of random special characters her and there, purely for convenience of access. I tend to rotate the phrases every month or so.
I use KeePass and the password db is stored on 2 different encrypted USB flash drives.
