What do I need to clone a laptop HDD?

I would like to upgrade the HDD in my laptop however I am unsure of how do do so. Since laptops only have one

HDD port. I'm assuming I will need some kind of USB adapters? Any help would be awesome and appreciated!  :)

I have one of these that I use to connect a hard drive to a laptop before cloning, but I am a tech and do this often.

You could also get just an external HDD case, use it for you drive clone, then your old drive has somewhere to live just in case you need to access it again.

Once I have the second HDD hooked up, then I can use Acronis True Image to clone to the new HDD corect?

Acronis does an awesome job at it, best way is to boot from either CD or flash drive. choose clone disk. I did this last weekend for a friend on his SSD it took 8 minutes to fully clone his full 128GB SSD to a 500GB SSD.

Thanks for all your help :)
