Ok, Is the new AMD Vishera line good or should i just buy a i7 even though its a little more money since i want to build a rig that is amazing for gaming. Also if the i7 is better what one should i buy?
A strange set to compare... It depends on what you plan on spending. For gaming, a system that costs $600-900 I recommend the FX-6300, in the $800-1800 I recommend i5 2500k/3570k, and from $1500 and above I recommend the i7 2700k/3770k. The areas that overlap are dependant on the build and what the user wants. So obviously, FX6300 < i5 3570k < i7 3770k, generally the FX8350s are only recommended to those who will be using content creation based applications like 3D modeling, video editing etc, but the i7 will still generally outpace the FX8350 by a small margin in these applications but its also about 1/3 more expensive.
I dont want to go over $2000, but out of the i7 what is the best one in the line?
For 1155, the best i7 is going to either be the 2700k or 3770k. The 2700k should be able to overclock higher, and you should get better performance out of it as a result, but the 3770K will give you some newer features like PCI-E 3.0.
For 2011, the absolute best CPU is the 3960X, but that's going to run you $1000, and it's almost the exact same thing as the 3930K which is around $500.
I'd just go for the 3770k, at that high price point high level SLI or XFire configurations are a possibility, thus the PCI-e3.0 support may prove useful.
Meh, you can't really use up the PCI-E 3.0 bandwidth with current graphics cards unless you're going to be running quad SLI or Crossfire, which most 1155 boards don't even support.
Again, at the $2000 price point, he could get a dual GPU card like the GTX690 and later on drop another one in for max-full-retard mode. I generally don't recommend based on the PCI-e 3.0 support when its at a lower price point, but $2000 is getting up on dat scale.
Well, i might go over 2k, but i want a nice base build to add onto. i know i want a really good CPU, Dual GPU (most likely a single 690 then add on to that) but im out of the loop since i havent thought about building a pc since i was younger and couldnt afford it but is there anything epically amazing with 3 GPU's? and also whats a really good MOBO if im using a i7 to get the most out of my rig.
if i was you i would get 2 gtx 670. and motherboard Asrock Oc Formula..or if u want better...get the asus maximus v extreme. and cpu for gaming i5 3570k/ i5 2500k....unless you rendering video n stuff n using adobe...go with the i7 3770k....i5 for gaming tho
Anyone have any thoughts on buying a CPU from Microcenter? The Intel i5 2500K is $160 there as opposed to $220 at Newegg.
I wonder why it would be $60 cheaper at Microcenter?
