What could be causing so much static?

Hi, my new microphone arrived the other day, and I was quite pleased with the sound quality, but there is a very large amount of static. I really don't have much experience in audio recording at all so any advice would be cool.

You can probably also hear that it is really quiet, I really am not sure what to do to remedy this...

Do you have a pop filter? That might be the cause of your problem. It fixed the static on my old mic..

Make sure to turn off any fans as well.

you could turn down your windows recording volume for that device and see if that fixes it as the mic won't be quite as sensitive

I'm no expert, but how far is the microphone from you? Sounds to me like it's just not close enough.
