I am going to build a new gaming rig in the up coming months and there are a few Nvidia cards out there like the 9800 GX2 and the new 200's i am wondering what one
would be better because i am confused about the new cards as y did they make them also will they be bringing out a GX2 model of the 280? would be nice to see something like that.
well it depends...if you have a SLI motherboard you can grab 2 or 3 9800 GTX there AWSOME !!! and they will cost you around 600 $ a little bit more than 1 GTX 280 and you'll get much more performance...but if you want a single card solution 9800 gtx from nVidia is the BEST BUY right now or from ATi an 4850 or 4870 or crossfire with those...so let us know what motherboard you have and how much money are you willing to spend
I will be using the nforce XFX 790i and i have around $2200 USD. If anyone can give me a good list of products for a good gaming rig that would very helpful but thanks for that info man you give me something to think about.
let's get that clear...do you allready have the mobo or is it included in the 2200$ budget ? i will make you a configuration to look at it just to make an ideea
well in my opinion i think you should get the XFX or EVGA 790i mobo with an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 at 3 GHz and with a nice aftermarket heatsink maybe something from ZEROtherm or Thermalright..then for the RAM go with OCZ Dual Channel 2048MB PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz ... computer case wich ever one you like just make sure it full tower so you have a lot of space for 3 9800 GTXs so ya grab those on tigerdirect it only 179.99 1 card so BEST BUY...and a nice Ultra X3 1000 W PSU...and hard disk as much as you need but the things i insit on is 790i with E8400 with a nice CPU cooler ( aftermarket ) so you can overclock or even watercooling if your in to it and most importantly and ON TOPIC : GET 3 9800 GTX's in 3-way SLI.................. P.S. playing TF2 now see ya later ;)
well honestly i would say no to that power supply but nvm.
a couple of 9800gts's would be great if you are going nvidia, though if you wanted ddr3 and great performnace you could pick up say an asus or sfi X48 board and crossfire a couple 4870's and that will out perform sli'd gtx280's, and will cost 600 as opposed to 1.000....
hi ther i have a intel p45 chipset and i am on a budget
i have the following:
cor2duo e4500 clocked to 3.0ghz
2gb ocz ati ddr2 800 clocked to 1231mhz
hd 3870 stock cloked
160 raptor hdd drive
650 wats power supply modular it cost me all together £650
i still have over £200 left for a corssfire configration i was wondering if it is posbile to get the monster hd 4870 and run it with the 3870 crossfire x configration
it is possible to run a 4870 and 3870 in crossfire but, make sure that they both have the same amount of memory and don't forget to put the 4870 in your primary slot!
for around $16-1800USD and it's pretty much bad ass compared to what I upgraded from. I don't see the need to go that big as far as the GTX 280's are concerned unless you just want to impress people.
i was wondering is there any news if there will be any new drivers update for cossfire x configration on xp Vists is full of $"^$£^" and it is to damn slow to run gams and yet still buggy and some big game like:
devil may cry 3
resident evl 4
onimusha 3 deamon sige
final fantasy 7 and 8
resident evil 3 and 2 i can go on and and on many more
dont work on vista
thats why i am asking for any news on new drivers for xp running crossfire x configration for example running 1 hd 4870 and then running 1 3870 in crossfire in xp
CrossFire X is strictly for vista and the coming windows se7en we assume. Ati/amd really pissed alot of people off with that decision. so sorry man, if you're going to run vista you're gunna have to use the 4870. or dual boot so you can run xp with those dx9 games and vista with all else.
also if you have updated your vista installation to the current updates, you shouldn't realy notice too many bugs.
Windows 7 is meant to be a ground up OS, with an updated kernal, as opposed to vista. so the answer is better than vista we can presume. The problem with vista was the fact that it was very sloppy, and most of the promised features were left out. windows 7 will be new fromt he ground up and should not have as big a bug problem as vista, and run a bit faster at launch. But you must understand, windows xp at launch was buggy and slow, and then sp1 solved some ove the problems, and sp2 made it fast as ever and cured the bug problem. sp3 wasnt mainly for the average consumer.
i see so then when will windows seven will relasing and wiil we be able to have the same kind of theme you know such as the control pannel or other programs are easy to be accesible becasue we are so much use to xp that we wont know where one option may and we may be thnking that they may have mist something out you now what i mean that was the problem with vista. i love vista very much but very hard to understand,( installation vist is easier than xp that i must admit and accessing movies and games are easy)
Once you get used to vista things are great, but every new os really has a new layout.
windows seven is expected to launch in '09 '10 but you never know, most os's are seperaetd by 2-3 years, with XP as the exception to that rule. (example: windows '95, '98, 2000)
i now have two of the 9800 gtx running in SLI only cost me about 400 but i was in a budget. if u r not in a budget u should go with the 280 gtx its a bit faster then the gx2 just look at the Specifications when u r buying it and u will see why and they cost about the same
