What can I do if a device doesn't work with USB 3.0?

Hey there,

I am desperetely looking for a solution to this problem:

I own an Axiom Air mini32 midi controller and is wonderful. In the next months I am gonna need to work from a laptop (a Dell 7450) which has only 3 USB 3.0 ports. The problem is that Windows doesn’t recognize it when plugged into a 3.0 port. as I could previously find out on my desktop. I installed drivers and everything is pretty new. In addittion if I disable the 3.0 controller in the bios Windows instantly recognizes the controller.

Do you guys have any idea??

You could try a separate powered USB 2.O hub. They are pretty cheap nowadays. I would think the laptop would recognize the hub as 2.0 and use the proper protocol. Then plug in the midi.

I will eventually try it but I guess that there is no real reason not to work. All in all USB should be forward and back compatible

It’s works in about 99% of cases but there are exceptions. I wouldn’t be surprised to find some kind of audio controller specifically not working with USB 3.0. They’re a special breed of appliances.
