What are these audiophile words mean

I want to know definitions of these words like highs, mids, lows etc treble etc mean in a headphones and if there is a example of relating to the word.

ps. i wanted to learn more about headphones, audio a bit more and may find better headphones that are suited for me not likely I will be able to purchase them but have a better grasp in the audio world.

The terms highs, mids, lows are reffering to the frequency-spectrum. Every tone consists of at least one frequency and you want your Headphones to produce the correct results in those ranges. But it's important to note, that there is no definition that the lows go from 0 - 500Hz and the Mids from 500 to whatelse.

I think treble is just another word to talk about the "highs"-characteristic. Very subjective in many cases!
