Hi folks i was wondering what AM3+ motherboard that support sata 3 runs colder i was looking at ASrock models and the ones catching my eyes are
970 Extreme3 R2.0 for 74 dollars
970 Pro3 R2.0 for 64 dollars
I don't care about all that jazzy features like more PCI-E lanes and such i just need to run 1 video card 1 hard drive and of course a 1055T 125W Cpu no overclocking
My Gigabyte AM3 Nforce 630a/7025 chipset runs at 19C and i like it like that but runs off sata 2 i plan on upgrading to SSD on black friday deals next month. That was the last Nvidia chipset they ever released since they got sued by intel if memory serves me right.
I been searching for weeks but not so many sites talking about North Temperatures all they talk about is Overclock and thats it. Electricity is expensive here were i live 280$ electric bill in summers from running the AC which is why i need to run cooler components not like my old mobo running at 80C heating up my room triggering the AC i ended up shooting that board with my shotgun.
Im willing to spend 80$ tops since im on a tight budget, business gets slow here at the casinos oct-march its a ghost town in this city. Thanks for taking the time to read and if you got am3+ board that runs super cool i would like to know to make plans on black friday deals.
I'm pretty sure the ASUS board will run cooler. ASUS is very meticulous company and has good reputation for picking strong parts. Asrock is known to use cheaper parts even though they aren't bad, but means cheaper parts will produce more inconsistent results which means most likely less stable temperatures.
Ok thanks guess ill wait for a good deal on Asus when black friday deals starts. Just wish they had micro atx boards with only 1 PCI-E that would be perfect for me.
I've used both the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX REV 2.0 & Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7 motherboards. The Sabertooth, with a 5.0GHz OC ran extremely hot compared to the Gigabyte. I achieved ~4.9GHz @ 1.515v and it ran at 48C peak after a 12 hour Prime95 CPU blend on a Corsair H100i.
Now, if you're asking if the board itself (mosfet, FSB etc) runs cooler, the Gigabyte won there too averaging aroun 33C with said overclock. The ASUS would hover around 43C with the aforementioned 5.0Ghz OC which I feel is usual.
I've had good results with Gigabyte boards, and have never used an ASrock product so I can't say it will do better or worse. I hope I helped!
Well, the sabertooth does push out a tad more performance than the UD7, and your UD7 was clocked a bit lower.
I just find it suprising the sabertooth runs that much hotter, did you use higher voltages?
I achieved 5.0Ghz on both boards, but only the Sabertooth was stable. I was using 1.525v on both boards and the Sabertooth on board PCB temps were higher than the UD7.
Ah thanks guys didn't expect to get any responses ill get a UD7 i don't do overclock or stuff i just like my hardware to run cool so the heat doesn't trigger my air conditioner. Ill search for good deals since black friday is near. Thanks a ton
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7 is what i have and the NB hovers around 55c and the SB is around 40c. I am also surprised that the Nforce board you have runs so cool as NV chip sets are known to run hot. My old 780i had a NB temp of 75c and woul go up to 80c when under load.
i would personaly buy a Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0. cheaper and much better ☺
Gigabyte AM3+ boards have to much issues. if you ask me.
Bump! I'm still having issues here and there with my Gigabyte board. Although, my ASUS board died 3 weeks ago. :-/
Ah i see im suppose to be getting money in the mail couple weeks and hope theres good cpu mobo combos around 160$. Im looking at getting a AMD FX 6300 vishera rainbow pilebomber 95W CPU what ever they're calling it this days. Its the 95W model and i couldn't get anything on black friday. The only thing i seen prices dropping are 500000$ cameras components servers and so on and useless 50 cents cables it was a sad black friday.
Na they had cheap two cheap SSDs (Samsung EVO 120GB for $75, Kingston SSDNow 120GB for $59), $69 Fractal Define R4 w/ window cases, and some decent Asus mobo deals... you just weren't looking for the right components at the time... :)
