What 144hz monitor should I get?

I'm currently looking at purchasing a 144hz monitor for CS:GO. I live in the US, and my budget is ~$300, although I'd prefer to pay closer to $250 if possible. I'd prefer to purchase from newegg or amazon, but if another reputable site has a great deal I'm willing to purchase from other merchants.

I'm thinking that a 24" 1080p is about the best I can do at the moment. Since I need it primarily for counterstrike, I'm not particularly interested in freesync or g-sync since I need to have >144fps at all times anyway. Plus, I don't really notice tearing in any of my games, at least for the most part.

The main two monitors I have my eye on are the Benq XL2411z and the Asus VG248QE. Currently, I can get the Asus for $265 at Amazon, while the Benq is around $310 from newegg.

Is the Benq worth $50 more? Is there a particular reason I should not consider one or both of these monitors? Are there any other monitors I should be looking at? Also, do I ideally want to use displayport for connect the monitor and my PC?

Thanks for any suggestions.

If needed, my current specs are:

i5 3570k @ 4.4 Ghz

HD 7950 @ 1000 Mhz core

8GB 1600 Mhz DDR3

AsRock Z77 Extreme3

Corsair TX650 650w PSU

I would go with the Asus I used one for about a week and it was a very nice monitor.  The only benefit I see personally is the zero flicker back light on the BenQ.

I have the BenQ and I really like it. The biggest thing that is off putting on the Asus is the cheap looking and feeling glossy plastic that the 248QE is covered in. It attracts dust and finger prints nonstop. I had a 60hz Asus before with the same plastic shell and I hated it so much that when it came time to pass on my monitor to my little brother that I went with the BenQ. The glossy plastic was so annoying.

BenQ with proper out of the box colour calibration can look pretty good. The zero flickering technology helps for long usage. My sister who is a non-techie also commented that she felt less tired to look at my screen compared to her Dell S2340L

I'm thinking about buying a BenQ as well. Yo Morgoth check this out http://shop.benq.us/monitors/gaming/xl2411z.html

Hmm $280... that's cheaper than i've seen it at other places.

And I think I'd prefer the Benq over the Asus anyway.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I am staring at this one http://shop.benq.us/xl2430t-1036.html

It is sitting in the cart.

i agree BenQ 30T is good choice

so is xl2420.

Soon BenQ will release G sync and freesync monitors. in s.u.m.m.e.r. at some point.

itl be 30T named 30te possibly or 30Gt

Currently I'm leaning towards the Benq; it's only $15 more on their site, and my friend has the asus and claims he's had problems with his 7870.

Any reason I shouldn't be considering the Benq over the Asus?

I would get a used CRT on eBay. You can easily get OLED-level color and contrast for under $300. A CRT will also have no sample/hold motion blur, input lag. Whatever you do, do not get a TN.
