So the running theory is that the whole thing was Ford's new narrative.
I don't think that's true. I believe the event that triggered the season was the corporation turning the transmitter on. By doing so it woke up the old Arnold code with it and started the chain reaction. Which started with Peter Abernathy. Peter then verbally spread it to Dolores with the whisper, then Dolores gave it to Maeve.
Ford had a look of suprise at the beginning of the season, but realized what was going on and began to act on it by making the new narrative. Bernard disabled/killed Elsie for Teresa, not Ford.
