so im looking for a mass storage drive or many if this turns out to possibly not be the right way to go.
ive got close to 350 games across, steam, uplay, origin and blizzard. and probably 500gb of anime bluerays.
would a WD red 8tb be fine for this kind of use? or am i missing something, i know its a nas drive but due to it being made for constant storage make it great for this kind of archiving?
If you have the space for it then 3x4tb disks in raid5 would give you better performance and redundancy as 8tb all on one disk without redundancy is just a ticking time bomb of data loss. Although in this case it's only time that you'd lose as you can just download the library again. But if you want to store this many games then I assume that not having to download them again is important to you.
500 is my australian pricing, alot of the time if amazon or newegg can ship to me the conversion and import fees / shipping is way over and just easy to buy locally. DAMN U AUSSIE DOLLAR </3
well i own a core x9 and plan on getting another to do a stacker just for the HDD space [ long term use etc ] but currenty i think the base ammount of drives is about 7 in the case, my motherboard has about 6 sata ports so 3 drives should be fine :)
well the current state of australian internet is about 1megabyte down, for me at least and 0.80 KB up so im forced to upload my youtube or large images via LTE.
storing downloaded games / backup files is great for me as it saves the 6 year wait to download 40gb games [ rainbow 6 siege took 3 days @1.5mb/s ]
ive never done raid as ive mostly been a basic pc gamer nerd that dropped off desktops to laptops for the formfactor and portability when i lived in dorms.
