$600 used isn't bad for the quality, but would I spend $1000 on it new? Probably not.
How does it compare, directly, to the Roland R26 Logan uses?
The r26 has 4 mic elements built in and is optimized for voice. It is extremely nice. It is a mic and recorder all in one. Portable and awesome.
The Shure is just a mic but it is way higher quality. It is a general purpose mic and extremely broad range. It can do instruments vocals or speech.
At max gain you can hear my heartbeat in our vocal booth through the mic from several inches away. Its gain being slightly too high is also why you can hear me breathing sometimes.
I love the Shure. It does have a different sound than the r26 though.
Follow up question:
What is the bendy desktop tripod Logan uses on his r26? I have a Zoom H4 I bought used and it came with no way of attaching to a standard mic stand. That thing looks PERFECT.

No, but if you're not looking specifically for the exact same one Logan has, searching for "desktop tripod" turns up a bunch of similarly bendy small tripods.
Yeah I tracked down a few, the mounting clips look too (shallow?) to really hold onto a clunky portable recorder. I passed a few amazon links around to family members as a stocking stuffer idea so hopefully it'll work or easy to DIY a solution.
