Wendell's 6700XT First Look

I had to write this because I think Wendell knocks it out of the park again. Looking over some of the nutcase reviews I’ve read this morning on the 6700XT, Wendells’ video review was a masterpiece of sensibility, maturity, objectivity, and pertinent, salient information. (That’s about the highest compliment I will ever give, btw…;))

Thanks so much Wendell for your objective look and comments. Some of the other reviews–catch 'em listed on R/AMD, the n00b site–were replete with facepalms, “Why bother?” remarks, and so on. Almost no information but a lot of immature and overblown criticism. So many sad folks feel qualified to second-guess the GPUs that AMD makes–it really is sort of nauseating. Valid criticism is one thing, but acting like immature teeny-boppers is quite something else, again!

Wendell, please put your extremely sane and “edumacated” video review out there on R/AMD so as to balance out the morons who use so many words and facial expressions to impart almost nothing in the way of useful information!

Your reviews are PSA’s on R/AMD, if you know what I mean–lots of wheat to counter the chaff. Thanks for a level-headed, informative first look!

I’m still holding out for a 6800XT–been checking the AMD store daily, 3-6 times a day, since the first day of official availability last year! Not once have I been able to put a 6800XT in my cart! Patience is it’s own reward, I guess.

Take care…PS…you positioned the camera the perfect distance from you in this video…in some others, you look close enough for me to smell your breath…which I’m sure is always “minty fresh”…but that is neither here not there… Keep up the good work!

I think you misunderstand the direction of those immature comments. It is not that it is not good, far from it, but rather that like all GPUs at the moment, these are also unobtainable. So the reviews are sort of screaming into the void.

Though it is a good review and and should be useful whenever the cards, you know, exist in the physical realm.

this is why I am fine with them uploading the reviews and why I get confused at peoples responses in the comments.
They’re taking their anger out at the wrong people with little justification to practically shaming youtubers for reviewing them when they will be available eventually.
Honestly all we need is a segmant to shame the companies for the lack of purchase protections because its something that’s in their control.

But yeah I do enjoy the reviews, Wendells review as usual was very informative, love it!

It is not even “shooting the messenger”, it is “shooting random bystanders”

Well just another card you can´t buy…
So why bother?

It’s true–I can’t buy one today…but yesterday, I didn’t know that. AMD even sent emails to tens of thousands of people in the US yesterday alleging 6700XT availability nationwide, if not globally. Nobody knew they were going to pull (along with nVidia) the third fake GPU availability date over the last ~ 4 months, for the newest four GPUs! Didn’t think AMD would be so reckless as to do this again–and without comment or explanation. That part has me very worried that something else is going on here that neither AMD or nVidia wants to discuss publicly. Whatever it is, it isn’t good for consumers of their GPUs.

But regardless of that situation, I did find Wendell’s summation long on information and very short on hyperbole, and sans emotional high jinks, and some of these other folks who do this kind of thing could learn from Wendell about that.

Good job Wendell… It’s not your fault AMD had none to sell on the first day of official availability!

I do not wish to sound offensive, but… You actually believed that?

If they could have had, by some miracle, the 6700XT in stock just like that, they would have done it with the 6800(XT) first as literally anything will sell to the vast majority of people and they could have made a huge amount of money from it.

They were never going to have them available enough. They may as well have said We here at AMD will be sending out to everyone who breaths a Ferrari of their choosing.

Edit: I am really struggling with this. You were joking right? I mean if that were even remotely possible AMD could literally over night become one of the most profitable companies in existence right now, they could just laugh at nVidia and Intel from the hilariously large pile of money they would be skiing down.

Nah this has to be a joke, if not I have some emails to send about the once in a lifetime chance to own a New York landmark…
