first of all I have an and radeon gigabyte 270 and it is running on default settings
So one day after my dad was playing world of tanks I went to my computer to find it shut down I didnt think anything of it until today when my dad said it shut down twice while playing wot so I went down there started it up and checked the temp on the gpu it was idling around 75c I then started the valley bemchmark as a test and it almost immediately shut down I then reseated the graphics card and tried again this time I monitored the temp while I did the benchmark. This time it didn't crash and it went stable around 55c I am now waiting to see if it does it again but until then I would like your opinions on to what you think it might be also now that I think about it I havnt played any really graphic intensive games in awhile anywat thx
Something similar happened to me, and it turned out that my PSU was failing. a few days afterwards i got a blue screen, and my PSU completely fried itself and it had to be replaced. after i got a new PSU everything worked just fine. Your situation sounds similar to what happened to me so thats what i would point to
the first thing i would do is go into your BIOS and see if you can check the voltages on the 12v 5v and 3.3v rails. If they are abnormally high or low then that just might be the problem.
when it was happening to me, i got an "asus power surge protection" message from my mobo, so look out for something like that as well.
if its not the psu then the next most likely thing is cpu or gpu temps being to high.
Ok so I checked the voltages and they are fine and when I tested the gpu and monitored temps as mentioned in op I couldn't tell which sensor was my cup but it said the motherboard had 3 sensors and none of them got to much above 100f so I don't think its that eathier.
Ok so as I said before I checked the 3 rails in the bios and they were fine but when I use siw under the sensors tab it appears to be much lower than it should be but I am not sure if that is just how much it is putting out at that time because it didn't need all the voltage or what but I would just like to get this fixed before it gets worse
Ok to be more clear I have decided that it is the power supply and NOT the graphics card. The psu is giving out lower voltages than normal and causing the pc to shut down if a device requires more voltage than is being given out. It is in no way the graphics card which doesn't ever go above 60c and I am using siw to check the temps thanks for all the help guys
