Weekly Deals: Cheapest Civilization VI as Winter Sale Heats Up | Level One Techs

As we head into the new year the PC gaming Winter sales have only gotten better. This week GMG pumped up the savings on their deals from a 10% off stacking coupon to a new 15% off stacking coupon plus extra instant savings on select titles. The result is new lows on Grand Theft Auto V, Civilization VI, Watch Dogs 2, the Metro Redux Bundle, and more.

GMG is not the only retailer competing with Steams behemoth sale, GamesPlanet also has a few offerings worth checking out. We're seeing the cheapest Doom, Fallout 4, and Dishonored 2. Their prices show up as British Pounds, but most titles can be bought world wide... and that's a huge advantage to US buyers since the British Pound has taken a beating this year compared to our dollar (partly why their prices are so good).

On the hardware front, NewEgg is launching a few good GPU deals. First up is a tri-fanned GTX 1070 dropping to $369.99. Now this is not the first time we've seen this price point, but since Cyber Monday the in-demand GTX 1070 under $400 has become a rare thing indeed. Much cheaper than the Nvidia cards is the AMD R9 380 now only $100 at NewEgg after rebate, which ties its historic low Black Friday price.

Haz Linux? :(

Just got the metro redux bundle for my gf. I loved those games, and started reading book.

That r9 380 is a pretty good deal. Tempted to get for my passthrough box

I've had bad experiences with passthrough and the r9 380. I've got an ASUS if it matters, but it appears to be afflicted by the cursed AMD bus reset problem. I bought the card specifically for passthrough and was sorely disappointed. If you're using it for the host card, it will be good, except no DP1.2, which means only 4k@30.

For reference, I've had better luck with a 970 than the 380.

Interesting. I have a 7970 ghz that's fine. Wonder if it's all a fluke or what

I was getting frustrated with it and thought I was doing something wrong, so I tried it with unRAID. Same problem. It's probably just a bad board. Everyone keeps telling me "the 380's are fine" but nope. I'm having the same problem with the 380 and the fury in my collection. So, the 380 is now in an HTPC and the fury is pushing my 3 a409u's on Linux while my 970 chugs away at 1080p games. I was also hoping the fury would work for passthrough, but again, I didn't do my research and the fury has the issue.

I wonder if the 480's have this problem. If someone has one, it should be tested.

To much steam on this list.... Not enough GOG/DRM free humble store.

Everyone missed the big sale but there is still some games on sale.

This is one of them

Don't forget Overload: http://playoverload.com/

Give me way more of Descent vibe.

Welp unsurprisingly the R9 deal is dead.

Added other new deals though, including cheap Gear VR, a very nice Asus rebranded AC1900 router, plus a "cheap" GTX 1070 Founders Edition.
