Hey guys i just wanted to know how much wear and tear i can expect from bitcoin mining assuming my temps are fine.
if you keep all your temps below 75c average. then maybe one year off your total life expecancy which usually is about 7 or 8 years. And this is all assuming your gonna be overclocking your card. if not you shouldent run into any problems with stable temps.
nice one! i was going to ask this same question
What do you mean 1 year off? How long would you have to mine to take a year off your card's life expectancy? How do you even know?
read the second half of what was said.. says that is only if you over clock other wise there is no real wear from mining.
But still a year over what a week of mining or something or until ASIC miner machines are so prevalant that GPU mining is like todays CPU mining.
as long as you keep your temps under about 75-80, its pretty much negligible. The technology will be old and outdated far before it dies on you.
It really won't have much of an effect. Like stated above, it might reduce the life expectancy by a tad but only to a degree that isn't noticeable. For example, I have my 670 overclocked and still running at 55C. I am not worried about it because my temps are good and by the time the thing will die in 8 or so years, newer technology will be available and in all likelihood I will be using something else.
