WD PCB change

Heya ALL

my WD 500Gb Sata disc broke down it was in a WD Book USB thingy

i did some googleing and it seems that i can be the PCB that broken duo to the heat and i looked a mine it it seems to be burned.

have anyone tried this? i did find some stores that sells PCB's anyone know how legit they are..

the is so many bogus companys out there even if its now alot of money i dont have to loose 35$

The drive dont start at all so i'm hopeing it dont get power from the PCB.

The reason i want to get it to work again is that my Pictures of my kids are on it..

and i know backup is good, i'll to it tomorrow or next day, or next week and then....

I was able to get one of my WD Green 1.5TB Drives working after a PCB replacement. But be careful where you buy PCBs from, it can be quite confusing. Just make sure that the PCB is for the EXACT same model HDD before you consider buying...and yes, it can work, just be sure you know for a fact that it is a PCB issue

Here's an idea, once you have fixed your drive. Go buy another from a different brand like segate impaticular. I dont like WD, I have seen to many cases in real life, in forums and across the web, where they brake in one way or another to warrant not ever buying one. Ever

the pcb dont seem 100%

atm i dont spinup so no ticks or klonking seems like it dont get any power to spinup so really hope its the pcb.

if it hant been all my pictures i wondent care. but now i really want to to work will get it up. copy over all the stuff then i wont use it for a system.

i might play with it in someway load and load of testing from a linux macheine and perhaps sell it for alot of money to a person i hate and say its a gold disc and it worth alot of money! :)

anyone have a reseller thats legit. did a search hdzone.com and sems OK.

just hopeing somone have better info then me. cant allways trust the google search
