Hey guys.
Going to attempt my first water cooling loop.
At the moment it is just CPU, i may introduce GPU later on.
I know this is a british site but I live in Britain, anyway what do you think of the setup?
Please leave your opinions and possible upgrades/changes if you think any need to be made,
Thanks,
Ben.
Yes, it will all work together. However, that tubing is freaking huge. I'd get 3/8 by 5/8 max, maybe 3/8 by 1/2 for a thinner wall.
If you are using red tubing, then just use water; pure distilled, di water instead. Beter performance, and much cheaper.
Also, F12s are pretty bad for push-pull, surprisingly, most likely due to the "shape" of the air they blow. I'd use Scythe Gentle Typhoons, instead; better looks, and just as good performance, if not better.
Will the smaller tubing still fit over fittings on my rad/res/waterblock etc.
Also with smaller tubing will I have to change the compression fittings? (told you i was new to watercooling)
And do the Scythe Gentle Typhoons have the same static pressure optimisation as the F12's?
Thanks!
You get fittings for the size tubing you're using. Get 3/8" by 5/8" fittings for 3/8" by 5/8" tubing, and such.
F12s have more SP, but with that thin rad, the difference won't matter much at all. It's a difference of about .5 cubic meters per minute; a big difference, sure, but since they're already crazy high, it doesn't matter.
I'd be half tempted to go with a 280rad up top https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-088-XS&groupid=962&catid=1523&subcat=1525 with some low rpm bitfenix spectre fans (red led) or something along those lines. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-016-BX&groupid=701&catid=2331&subcat=1816
Ditch the hdd cages covert all the 5.25 bays into hdd trays. Nice tube res, d5 and a second 280 rad for the front. Then just add in the gpu to the loop later on.
For the cpu block I would go for this over the EK https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-023-KA&groupid=962&catid=1519. I think it will suit your colour scheme a little better.
Just get barb fittings if you want to want smaller tubing to the fitting size. Save some cash and looks a lot cleaner. Just make sure the cuts are nice and straight.
As mentioned just grab some d/m water from your local supermarket with a biocide additive (liquid utopia), premixed coolant is a waste of money and will only clog your system, stain your blocks etc after awhile.
Nice case btw.
Problem with making seperate loop at the front is that I already have 2 5.25" taken, this loop will take another 2 which means i will have 0 for HDD's.
Yeah that block looks good but the reason I choose the one I did is because I would like to use blood red coolant and you can see that go around the block in the one I choose.
What size tubing/barbs would you suggest? I have downsized to 3/8" ID, 5/8" OD like brennanriddell said.
And I kinda like the blood red... sorry haha, I love the look of it.
Thanks about the case.
And thanks for your suggestions!
A 360 offers noticeably more cooling opportunity, and a wider array of fans. On top of the fact that Bitfenix fans are awful, I'd definitely go with a 360 instead.
I would also prefer a D5 with a tube res austhetically, but he does not, in any way, need that much flow, plus it uses two more fittings than the integrated setup, unless he gets a small, integrated res, which would most likely require a pump top.
I also prefer the 360.
Also I only choose that res/pump combo as it was easy to install.
If a D5 and tube res was explained how to install and links to good ones were provided I would give it serious consideration, as I said I only did not choose seperate res and pump as I was worried I would make a mistake!
There is very, very little that you could mess up with individual pum(s) and res(s). Plug and play ;)
Also if it comes in stock by the time i buy the system i will buy this:
