Hello,

I ordered one, because I also came across the Zen model while looking for the UHD420/400. Fingers crossed :)
Hmm, it's got a TV tuner, but no display ports for only $400. Interesting...
This showed up on the scene right after I bought the Wasabi Mango UHD 430. Honestly? I'm very happy with the purchase. I like having display port and an AH-IPS panel as the colors are terrific.:)
The Zen UHD400 lists the panel as PVA, so it's a Samsung panel instead of an LG (AH-IPS).
Got my eyes peeled on this thread, just saw the thing for sale on ebay for $410, 4xHDMI 2.0, 4x4x4 Chroma, 60hz tons of inputs and usb, and I can't find any reviews on youtube except this Korean guy I can't understand =/
I really hope this monitor does what I want because I've been aching to upgrade from my x-star 2710 and I can never find that Microboard monitor that @Wendell reviewed.
I'm jealous, but I don't know that I want to spend the money on IPS over VA...
I wish I could just show up in Korea for a few hours and see the difference for myself before making a purchase.
Hmm... There are IPS versions for around $900 with HDMI 2.0, 4:4:4, etc... tempting... Still trying to find if they support HDR.
For HDR about the only thing available are higher end TV's from the big name companies- LG, Samsung.
Based on Amazon reviews this looks like it uses the exact same panel as the UHD400 except with a TV controller board.
So if you don't mind HDMI (I don't think you can get 8-Bit+FRC to get the psuedo 10-bit colors through HDMI, displayport only) and the lack of freesync, this is the same thing for $135 cheaper. The real question is whether the TV portion of this thing adds any input lag. Either way $400 is dirt cheap, no idea why people buy Ultrawides when you can get something like this.
Your IPS options are 43, 49 and 55 inches. I think all the 40 inch ones are discontinued right now.
UHD430, UHD490 and UHD550. All of these have different named variants from Crossover as well which I believe is Wasabi Mango's parent company.
To be honest after having literally a dozen of these different korean 40 inch+ monitors, I'd take the VA blacks over the IPS colors any day on something this size on a desk. Every single IPS one I've had has either has horrendous light bleed or screen uniformity issues where as the VA's seem immune to it from the 5 I've had.
When you are sitting 3-4 feet away, uniformity/bleed and washed out blacks are a total eye sore. They can be ignored under the circumstances of a TV application where you're 10 feet away on a couch but up close it's gross IMO.
All I'm trying to say is the VA's seem much less B grade panel quality wise compared to the IPS which have obvious glaring flaws.
I have read the korean reviews translated by google and here is what i found out:
U400 is a TV, UHD400 is a monitor.
U400 has a tv tuner uhd400 doesnt.
U400 "only has simple settings. Uhd400 has more settings"
U400 can get 4:4:4 in pc mode, not in video mode. (They used an nvidia 9XX card.)
U400 doesnt have freesync
U400 is all plastic
U400 has a USB media player. Photos, vids, music
Lag is almost same as uhd400 in PC/game mode.
Basically for $135-150 you get:
Freesync
Metal body
120hz 1080p (i think u400 only does 60hz)
Maybe a bit better response time (maybe. Lag is almost same as uhd400 in PC/game mode.)
"More settings"
Displayport
Pip and pbp (dont think u400 can do this)
But lose:
Tv tuner
USB Media player
Component input
I might be missing some stuff but im goin to bed. Update later
No Freesync is a deal breaker for me since v-sync add input lag and its the only way to get rid of tearing if u have an AMD card. If u use nvidia ignore this.
How do u guys deal with screen tearing? I loke free sync because what r u going to do when u get 100fps but the monitor only does 60? U will get tearing and without using v-sync u cant do anything about it. But then again, i use vsync all the time and dont notice lag lol
FYI, the Zen U430 just hit eBay. I grabbed the pixel perfect option for $420 (via "Make an Offer"). Practically no info is known for sure but I expect it to be a cross between the U400 and UHD430 (i.e. TV options like the U400 with the IPS screen of the UHD430).

** UPDATE** This is a BGR panel and NOT RGB. So this Monitor cannot be a cheaper version of the UHD 400. We are talking about a different panel here.
I think this U400 shares the same panel as all these lower tier 40 inch monitors.
This is listed as a PAV3 whatever that means.
Can anyone who owns this tell me if it behaves like a monitor? As in does it turn on and off with your PC and go into standby? Via HDMI I mean.
Thanks
So we still have to wait for a free sync 40" UHD under 500 $/€...
Hi Gmoney, the guys at hardforum will have the answer. There are a few owners of the u400 there.
Hey guys. Within 3 days the screen was on doorstep, witch is not bad at all! Its a great monitor, but the only thing that kinda bothers me, are the colors (in the middle the colors are better, then at the borders) and the small input lagg (when I play BF4 for example)
Thanks for the report! I'm happy to hear it doesn't suck too badly ;) Do you think you can capture the color problem on camera? or is it too hard to see? -- Also glad you like the input lag.
I think its more my eye problem ;) Its because I did sit to close to the screen, and then you have different view angle then when you sit a couple of centimeters back.
