Wasabi Mango UHD490 EDGE

After all the regular UHD490's sold out on ebay, finally a new version has come out called the UHD490 EDGE which a few of the Korean regulars are now selling.

Any ideas how it differs from the regular UHD490?

Going on some super shifty Chinese sites looks like has thin bezels

Which makes sense because EDGE

Actually it doesn't look much different at all, interesting

Looks like it doesn't have freesync?

The EDGE version says nothing about freesync, which I doubt they would leave out if it was a working feature.

The edge does mention freesync now. So was probably just a typo

Looks nicer, however AH-IPS panels are quite bright so blacks are often grey in color. At least that's what I felt with my one I had, doubt I will see much improvement with this new QUIX screen I'm getting but its something to keep in mind when it comes to Korean monitors.

I think those TN? panels they sold had somewhat better blacks but I only got to try 1 of them and it had power saving issues along with dead pixels and blur so didn't get much testing in...

Perhaps one day we will see Korean OLED screens at a decent price? Honestly OLED is the future.

For anyone still wondering, I got the UHD490 and it's great. Freesync works and I managed to expand the range down to 33hz-60hz. Feels amazing having your entire visual field filled with desktop space, and the DPI is actually quite perfect when it's about 2ft infront of you.

The only problem, and it is quite disconcerting is that the display layer of the screen is higher than the backlight, so the content around the edges of the screen is not easily visible at an angle. This guy talks about it in his video at some point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV4Na9afDMY

I've got the UHD490 as well. I replaced my microboard B400 which was less than a year old and was having massive issues with this. So happy, it looks amazing.

My only gripe is finding a way to mount it on my desk using the 300 x 300 VESA bolts on the back. I have a glass desk so can't use a clamp mount, but haven't been able to find a mounting solution.

Does anyone out there have any ideas? Would really appreciate a brainstorm as google has let me down!
