Warning. Sabrent Has a Bug with some SSDs or Batch of SSD

It might be a bad batch, but other reports show this to be a thing. After about a years use the ssd of mine (Rocket Plus 4) started losing 5% of health every few weeks. To the point it is at 0% according to crystaldiskinfo.

According to mutliple forum posts and reddit topics people do not know if it is a actual failure or not. It seems to work with no data corruption from what we can see. According to their own control panel it is at 100% still.

All other smart info is fine. It also seems to occasionally slow down windows after boot. Like a program on initial login takes up to 4 minutes to respond. Like I can’t open explorer or chrome or firefox or anything until after 4 minutes post login.

So I don’t know. I am not sure what is going on because data does not seem to be corrupted. I was able to clone the install to another ssd and that loads instantly and is better.

But I will probably use sabrent until it dies as a game drive or something.

As far as I can tell this has been going on for about 2 years for people and sabrent has not been helpful in regards to telling people if their drives are good to use or not. I wonder if they fucked up firmware that communicates with smart vs their own in house health reading.

Yeah, I have a 2tb Rocket 4.0 Plus with 32% remaining after 3 years according to HWInfo. My Inland 2tb bought at the same time reports 99%.

Seems maybe 4.0+ models. My original sabrent is still fine.

Model Number: Sabrent SB-2130-1TB

Available Spare: 100%

Thankfully these seem to be ok, thanks for the reminder tho to check my backups.
