Want to build a Gaming rig. Is this a good build?

Hey guys!  Ive been visiting this website for months now but this is my first time posting in the forums.  So I'm hoping to put together a PC this winter break that will cost me around $800-900.  The main games I'd like it to be able to run are Skyrim, Starcraft 2 HoTS, and Dota2.  Here's the build that ive come up with and i'd love any feedback that you guys have to offer.

note: I plan on overclocking in the future but not initialy which is why I'm sticking to the stock cooler in this build.

edit: I guess its important to note that this will be my first time building a PC.

You're gonna get great performance out of this! :D

The only thing i would change is getting a 1x8 RAM stick instead of 2x4 for future upgrades, but that's not really that important if you're not planning to upgrade the RAM a lot.

Solid build so far, i would go with a Seagate barracuda though

Really? I've heard of people getting trouble with those

My Build happens to be very similar to yours;

Really, the only thing I would change is the Graphics Card. I've been looking around for a while (I was even planning on getting the XFX 7870 GHz Edition at one point) and I've found that the HIS Radeon 7870 IceQ is not only cheaper (ATM) but it's also run cooler than the XFX.

Temperature Tests for each card:

XFX Radeon 7870 GHz Edition

HIS Radeon 7870 IceQ Edition

As you can see, the HIS is much cooler.

The HIS 7870 also has a slightly lower Power Consumption than the XFX 7870.

Finally, the HIS 7870 gets slightly higher Benchmark scores in 3D Mark11, Unigine Heaven, and generally, the HIS 7870 get higher Frame Rates in all of the DX11 games tested.

Anyways, that was just my opinion. Take it or leave it. There is one downside to the HIS 7870... The card is HUGE. It's about 11¼ inches long. So yeah, if you have room it shouldn't be a problem.

Cool thanks for the advice!

I like it. The only thing it really needs now is an SSD.

Yep. Looks good to me. I have the extreme4-m and a 3570k. I'm very happy with those parts. Stick with the two RAM sticks, so you can benefit from dual channel memory. You can add more ram to the empty slots in the future.

You could go with a 550w 80 Plus Gold PSU, if you want to save money or something. Your setup will probably hit ~375w with Prime95 and Furmark running at the same time.
