Open letter to EVGA/Gigabyte/ASUS/MSI Here's the situation. Normally all your asses would be dead as fuckin fried chicken, but you happened to pull this shit while I'm in a transitional period, and I don't want to kill you. I want to help you. But I can't give you this money, because you're all out of stock. Besides, my wallet has been through too much shit over the last week to just hand it over to your dumb ass.
I think a lot of people have been waiting either to get a new 1080 or a cheaper 980Ti.
It looks that in the UK at least the new cards are priced just high enough that the old cards can just about keep their present price points. fabtastic discount here on overclockers.co.uk:
Probably. I had given 980Ti 2-way SLI some thought, but I don't think a 360mm and 240mm rad would be up to my personal standards for cooling two cards and a CPU. Craigslist had a few decently priced 980Tis. I'll probably grab a 1080, leave it air cooled, sell it when the 1080Ti is announced, and water cool that. Don't get me wrong, 1080 looks like a beast of a card, but I'm still looking for that elusive 4k 60FPS.
From the rumors and "leaked" benchmarks, Polaris10 looks disappointing, as AMD has been on the premium end of the spectrum. Regardless, I'll have a week or two before sales settle and custom 1080s get released. By then Computex will be over and AMD will have officially unveiled Polaris10. So I still have a while to make a decision.
Guess I'm playing minesweeper for the next 2 weeks lol
I'm in the same boat. I got my new rig with a i7 5820k all water cooled, but still waiting for some board partners on eBay. I want the 1080 sli sooooooooooooooo bad
Sounds nice. I'd be all about the SLI, but I don't want to bog my loop down using a two card solution. Thinking I'm going to just go with a Hydro Copper if they're out soon enough.
Thanks. You'd actually be surprised by how much air flow I'm getting in there, even with the fans on 5v-7v. Sure it's not a 900D, but what're you going to do lol
Apparently the Strix 1080 will be priced at $620-$640. That alone should make other companies follow suit. Had no clue what Nvidia was thinking charging $100 for a backplate. Only real function of the founder's edition was for novelty and to squeeze some extra $$$ out of people that wanted the card on day 1.
I'm split between the Strix and Hydro Copper. I'll just have to wait and see what the prices are. Strix backplate would look sick in my build seeing as how it would match my RoG branded mobo and RoG branded CPU block.
