VPN Troubles

Alright, Ive been trying to get this problem fixed for about a day now, and i have no idea whats going on.

Here's the issue -- When I go to connect to my VPN, it connects, but when i go and open my browser and I try to go to a website, I get an error saying I'm not connected to the internet, or the server cannot be found. I have tried two different VPN services and I have tried multiple servers on each service. The strange thing is my first VPN service worked for about 3 days perfectly, and I have just started encountering this issue. The second VPN service i tried using was SecurityKISS, which i have running as my VPN service on my laptop that's running Linux Mint and SecurityKISS is working perfectly on that. The computer (my desktop) I'm having trouble with is running Windows 8, if that helps.

Like I said, HotspotShield (which was my original VPN service) worked for a while, and then stopped. I have already ruled out the possibility of it being a issue of paid or free accounts, and I have no idea whats going on.

Any help is greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance for the feedback.

Maybe it is a network adapter problem. Try disabling all adapters you don't need (hamachi, etc.).

Alternatively, try VPN called "CyberGhost". I use it all the time and i never had problems with it. I am not sure how much it slows your network on their free plan, since my internet is as fast as a racing snail.

Also, some firewalls and anti-viruses like to block these (ESET Smart Security did it), try checking those out.

I installed CyberGhost, and made sure it was allowed through my firewall. Its working. Thanks for the help.
