Basically, we have a couple Netgear ReadyNAS 102 enclosures at work and my boss wants to have remote access to them from home. One of them would just be for file access (Part Blueprints, CNC programs, etc.) but the other would require accessing a database and client-side software (E2 Shop System) to be running.
I'm trying to find the best VPN for the job. I'm not too much of a network guy so I'm pretty ignorant in the area.
I'd use OpenVPN. If you need native support with Windows I think there's a way to run a PPTP VPN in combination with IPsec for security, but OpenVPN really isn't that hard. If you can, move your network to a pfsense router, if you can't, set up OVPN on a Linux machine and configure the static routes in your existing router.
