VMware and linux mint

hey, i am using VMware to play around in different linux distros. i just made a new virtual machine to run linux mint but the VMware software do not have a option for linux mint. so i just went for the one named: other linux 3.x kernel OS. it worked but the start up was quick and on the mint desktop it has a installation image.

if i run the installation will it only install on the virtual machine or will it write over my main drive and destroy my windows installation`?

There is no link between the vm and your physical machine. Linux only sees what you give it.
It's like a dam water cannot get out of the dam.

ok, i just needed to be shure. i am not that good in linux yet that i would ditch windows
thx mate :)

Be wise to choose Ubuntu 64 bit as the OS when creating your VM. Linux mint is a fork of Ubuntu with Cinnamon, KDE or XFCE desktop. So its nothing but a tweaked out version of Ubuntu. I have to do this everytime i do a fresh install of Linux Mint on Virtualbox or Vmware.
