VM's going to read-only file system

I’d agree, except that it also happened a bunch of times in the past that I just chose to ignore as I thought it was a weird Veeam issue with overlapping on nightly updates. But I guess I will see what happens over the next few days. If I have issues, I am leaning towards the SSD being bad.

I really don’t know.

At this point, I’m a bit inclined to fall back into my prejudice and say “don’t use vmware”

Why do you say that?

Because VMWare is

  1. in violation of GPL with Linux
  2. a non-free and less featureful alternative to QEMU

Didn’t know it was in violation of GPL, thats pretty craptastic.

And I am not familiar enough at all with QEMU to know. I ended up on ESXi because of a FANTASTIC writeup I saw on freenas forum about how to get it all set up and working… Now that I know more, I likely could make other hypervisors work, but I am already somewhat down this path. One day, maybe, I will try something different.

It’s mostly about preference tbh.

@SgtAwesomesauce thanks for the help. So far so good, if anything crops up, I will likely try and go the bad SSD route as I really don’t know what else it would be…
