http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835146038 plus my h100 and a cheap 290 or 290x ref. Oh Ya. Nerd porn!!!
Will pratice on one of my 7870s( Since i have one thats aging, runner hotter. I have to take it apart anyway for new tim and such) Will do a little build log
Pcper has a video where they put the kraken g10 on a reference 290.
I personally plan on using the gelid icy vision cooler for my 290, it's cheaper and has the vrm/ram heatsinks.
I will have to check out the video. I think they did something similar here also. This struck me as a little more general purpose. Which i am gonna test out couple cards. Have to look into the gelid icy vision. I just realized it wont fit my old h100 but i have another that will.
For things like VRM/RAM cooling you can get aftermarket passive heatsinks that should cool things just fine
Still trying to find a good source other than frozen. Found this http://koolance.com/video-ram-heat-sinks
Yeah, IDK where else to find them other than frozen, but good luck to you. Maybe you could look for them at electronic component distributors like Mouser or DigiKey I have no idea the prices compared to frozen but they might be better
Think i have to wait until i figure out what kind of clearances i have to work with. Ty, nice sites.
I like that nzxt have released different colours of the g10.
To be honest, i think the kit is over priced. Needs to come down to $19.95 for what materials are involved.
You're right at the end of the day its a cheap fan with a cut piece of metal.
Well i broke down and installed the g10 anyway ( still waiting on my heats for the vram) Dropped my temps on my 7870 down to 47 to 49 degrees under Heaven benchmark. Normal was 72 c very much worthwhile. Now i am going to do the other. lol
nice drop in temps.
yup, where i am heading next. After i burn out one of my 7870s.
Cheapest 290 is the windforce i think for about $360. I ended up buying 2x 290x Vapor X because i love blue and black, i was going to get the tri x but orange is so oogly.
Of course that was my hot running XFX card. Best thing is the dual fans are not kicking heat everywhere inside the case. Overall case temps dropped also.
A open box reference for around 300. Seen a few kicking around cause no one wants the reference noise.
Here is a fast and dirty with using just ccc. First stable effort. Temps under Heaven benchmark never got over 42 c. Ya , my heatsinks made it in.:)
