Lately I've been wanting to give osx a try, so I've tried to use virtualbox 4.3.4 but I continually keep getting this error. Can anyone help me because on two tries I've gone into my bios and enabled visualization but this error still persists. HELP!
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Incognito.
VT-x is disabled in the BIOS. (VERR_VMX_MSR_VMXON_DISABLED).
Try reinstalling VirtualBox? I don't know if your BIOS would have let you enable VT-x if the CPU didn't support it, but to be sure, confirm that your CPU has the feature by checking the model specs or using a utility like this.
If you don't seen an option for VT-X in the BIOS, your processor might not support it. Check that.
I use VMware workstation 10 (see pirate bay ;) ) because I could never get virtualbox to cooperate with OS X.
You have to go through hoops to virtualize OS X (including having the INSTALLESD.DMG image file, which I only know of being able to get from an existing OS X install) and you have to unlock Vmware to install OS X.
Also keep in mind that installing OS X on non Apple hardware is a violation of Apple's EULA, making it illegal to run an OS X virtual machine...
But this guide is pretty detailed!
Hope this helped :)
better use VM ware work station. Virtual box crash on me wenn i try mac osx 10.8 on my FX8350. in vmware it works fine.
Okay so it turns out that I just had to redownload virtualbox, but now I've run into another problem, whenever I try and boot the HackBoot 1 disk I get a message saying "can't find /mach_kernel", does anyone have any solution around this part?
Please just switch to using vmware workstation. it's a much better program, 2 of us now (including a very active forum member/mod) have recommended switching to it. And you can get it for free. It's a much more solid program and will cause you a lot fewer headaches!
Okie,, okie I tap out vmware workstation it is now.
