Hi Guys, I decided to give it a shout, Virgin Media deserves it !!!
I ordered a broadband connection 2 months ago (10th of September). An engineer came after 2 weeks and decided that he has to speak to a supervisor because the entrance to my flat is through the kitchen, he promised to come the next day.He never appeared or called. A few days later I called Virgin to ask what happens, they said that they don't know and that the manager will contact me.I waited several days ... nobody contacted me ,so I called them again. They told me that an engineer will come in 2 weeks time. The engineer came and had a look, told that two engineers have to come and that he would order them for me next day.As before nobody came, after 2 weeks of waiting I called Virgin again to get some explanation.Nothing apart of a promise that an engineer will come on 4th of November. And .... nobody came ..nobody called me .. nothing .. Again it was me who had to call, so I did it ...And shared my frustration and anger...their response was: we can order an engineer for you but you will have to wait another 3 weeks... I can't believe...do you?
A such big company like Virgin not being able to provide the internet in less than 2 weeks, now 2 months, arrogantly ignoring customers. There is no possibility to talk to a manager or anybody other that a person from their customer service whose role is ( I guess ) nothing more than just ticking boxes on a computer screen. All story happens in London, not far away from the centre, 10 minutes on train from London Bridge .There is the Virgin optical fiber coverage in my street. Please help my to understand Virgin policy...why they don't put on their website info that waiting for the connection
can take up to a few months!!!! or that their cables don't like kitchens!!!!
Sounds like virgin media to me. Get rid of them and go with vdsl, at least youll have options.
I will wait another few days . But i am angry that there is nowhere to complain, I called ofcom but they seem helpless and hopeless too.
Seems such a shame as I'm with Virgin (in Birmingham) I've been with them for 10 years and I've had nothing but amazing service from them. I had a engineer out 2 weeks ago to relocate our router upstairs and he was pleasant, polite and did a top job. I had also learnt they were increasing my connection from 152Mbps to 200Mbps at no additional charge.
Must just be different divisions in different locations that operate in their own manner. I do hope you get better service soon though :)
I know that VM is fast but BT Infinity 2 is an option. I'm guessing you have a phone line already. All they have to do is send a bloke out to change the socket, he then goes to the box in the street. Comes back and tests that it's all OK. No need to run any cables.
thanks ...I don't know... i'm just sitting at my friends place using her broadband.. it's so frustrating..I will keep you updated with the story...
Well since guns are hard to come by there i'd recommend busting their door down with a crossbow in hand, but hey that's just me.
Sounds like they don't want your business, I would simply tell them to go "Fuck yourselves, I am going somewhere else."
Waiting nearly a quarter of a year for installing is a joke. Did you write down the engineers' names and who you spoke to?
OFCOM won't do much for you, their mantra is usually "We don't do much, we'll have a good moan, but you'll continue to get fleeced." Trading Standards or a telecommunications ombudsman might be a slightly better shout.
If you think this is the hassle of Virgin when you are not been paying for the internet, wonder what it will be like if you have a problem when you are.
If you want Virgin then you'll have to be such a fucking nuisance until you get it or just go somewhere else.
sounds like a normal virgin, question is, will it be worth the foreplay? innuendos aside, are there more benefits being with them over other providers? If not, bye bye. also depends on how long others take to hook up ur service/costs
They're probably all as bad as each other. The landlord for the building here sorted out BT infinity, they even sent him the appropriate wi-fi router to go with it, only to tell him on the day they were due to come out that they can't install it in this area.
-_- , sure you don't live in Australia? sounds just like here. took me 8 months to get a tech out to fix the phone line the first 5 techs just did the same shit... despite me going no, that is not the issue it will not fix it, them running tests and saying 'but the speeds are fine no problem now'..... turns out every time our neighbor got a phone call/used the internet it knocked out our internet as for some reason they had f*&#@d up the wiring at the junction (god only knows how - more like being cheap) it was that bad it took them two days to fix it...... If you have the chance, threaten them with a competitor/prices etc or if high speed/low cost wifi is an option?
