This has been said anecdotally few times (most notably on PPBM7) but AMD's lack luster performance for the recent versions of PR and AE comes down to poor implementation of SSE 4.x.
To think AMDs CPUs used to blow Intel's SSE implementations out of the water.
All because they lost the architect that made it possible..
