I am pretty sure many of you here are familiar with Active Directory. Some might be learning how to set up and use it in a business setting (university) like me and some might have worked as sys-admins. However how would a purely Linux based workplace funtion. I know that there are tools in place in AD DS that support UNIX applications and clients, but I think it would be interesting to see how a purely Linux based forest and domain services would function.
Maybe something like Kerberos and OpenLDAP. idk It would not even have to be for business could just be for a small home network with a lot of machines.
At least it would be interesting to me. Just an idea. Hope to see more content on the Linux channel.
Kerberos tutorials would be interesting. I'm still waiting for someone to post a video about a Linux based eco system in the enterprise and how it would perform next to Windows.
Agreed - I'd love to see videos/thoughts/opinions on a fully linux-based environment. I've always wanted to be able to use a free, open source OS for work (how nice would a Raspberry Pi be to do work on :) ) I think it would be great if more people used LibreOffice and stuck with the open source, standardized file types.
I also have been wanting to ask @wendell what his favorite (best performing, most feature-rich) free bare-metal hypervisor is. I think that question plays nicely into your thread :)
Yes please! That's what I'm waiting for. I've play around with OpenLDAP with Kerberos authentication and FreeIPA. There are plenty of opensource components you can use but it would be great to have video of the overview of what else is there and how it works together to create entire ecosystem. @wendell Please!!!!
