I build a new computer and when I booted it up for the first time, neither of my monitors gave a signal. One went to a color test and one went to power saving mode. I switched the gpu to the different pci-e port and it still didn't work. The hard drives are empty and i have not installed an OS yet. Suggestions or questions??
Hate to break it to you but you may need to RMA that graphics card. I had the same thing happen to me. Before you do that however I have some tips.
- you sound try an out of case setup where your motherboard sits on the box it came in and you only have the essentials plugged in. (cpu, ram, gpu, psu, cpu cooler, hard drive). if still no signal to your monitor, check the motherboard for any in indicator lights still on implying a fault somewhere in the system
- alternatively, if you are using an Intel CPU then try to use the graphics of the chip, just use the display ports of the motherboard IO. (same if you are using an amd APU)
- if amd FX/phenom, unlucky, best thing to do would be to test the graphics card out on someone else's PC and see if it works there.
System specs? Too little info to have an opinion. Really, i would start with basic setup with one monitor.
