VGA to HDMI adaptor won't work

I have a second monitor I would like to hook up. I know that his monitor works, but my adaptor doesn't seem to connect it and my computer won't recognize the monitor in the screen resolution settings. I am using windows 8.1 and have a gtx 750 graphics card.

did you set up windows to run on two different monitors?

I used windows+p and hit extend and tried using the detect/identify option, but it still didn't recognize my second monitor.

Ok well then you'll have to do it thur the nvidia software. Basically just go to the software and under displays force the new output.

VGA is analog, HDMI is digital. Is that even possible?

I work at a small PC repair shop and when we get laptops in that won't display we plug them into VGA monitors that we have around the shop. But some laptops don't have VGA ports and only have HDMI so we use adapters to check them out. So far I've had no problem with HDMI to VGA so I would guess that VGA to HDMI should work just the same.

I tried the rigorous display detection and it still doesn't seem to show up :(

Win8(-) isn't too friendly with things like that. Like other users have posted, I would suggest going through the GPU control panel.
