So, I was using EaseUS to move my hard drive files and os to my HDD. I completed this, booted back up, and started clearing my hdd, i removed the boot partition. Unknown to me at the time that my ssd will not boot. So, now my HDD is missing a partition, and my ssd just wont boot. When i try to boot from my ssd, it just says grub and nothing happens. Ive used a recovery usb, that wont work. Please help, very urgent.
Please help :(
why did you start deleting before you even checked that the new drive would boot? not much you can do other than reinstalling the os on the hdd. then copy files off ssd back to hdd. then install os on ssd. make sure it boots then copy files from hdd to ssd.
It appears his computer utilized the boot partition on his primary hard drive to boot from the SSD (without his knowledge) so He thought it would boot.
Could you provide us more information, like What OS's are present in the system? (You obviously have a distro of linux w/ grub but anything else?)
Windows 8.1, but thats the thing, i dont have any distro of linux. I used to have one on my ssd, but i formatted it. (Manjaro XFCE)
I am entirely ok with loosing all data on my computer at the moment. Is there any possible way to format the drives and reinstall windows? I think it would almost be fun getting all of my programs back. I dont have another desktop pc that i can use to format the drives. I think i could get a linux distro off of usb and do it that way right?
yeah, that would work, or use the install disc for win 8 or what ahve you
You should be able to use this http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media
To install windows Via USB again.
For extra measure you could use a Live CD on a USB stick to run g-parted or a similar utility to delete the partitions on the disk so windows has to re-initialize everything giving you a squeaky clean install.
