I have a dell poweredge 740xd with a vga output of vertical multicolored lines. Allegedly a bios update bricked it but I don’t have specific date or version that was attempted by the homelabber.
Any longshot recommendations to try before I swap out the motherboard? (I have a spare already)
you might be able to flash the bios chip using a clip flasher or a audrino
have you tried updating through idrac
In addition to what @Charles_VT said, have you tried checking the remote control via idrac and seeing if something is wrong with the bmc itself? VGA on r720 goes through the bmc (idrac is dell’s variant of bmc, aka ipmi)
