Because of the high prices atm, I have the choice between a 1080ti or a Vega FE. Both cards currently cost about the same. I do not want to pay 450€ or more for a RX 580.
Vega FE:
- some pro features (no MxGPU sadly - maybe flashing a MI25 Bios would enable support?)
- larger frame buffer (not really that important)
- better non-windows support
- pro-drivers AND Gaming drivers
- no anti-passthrough policy
- slower by 20-35% (gaming)
- windows drivers not that good
- ?has reset bug?
1080ti:
- very good driver support under windows
- probably has better resale value
- custom designs available
- can be passed through dynamically (as far as I know, using unbind and rebind)
- the fastest gaming card available
- gpu passthrough might be blocked completely in the future
- not supported by nouveau
I want to use the card for 1440p 144hz and 4k 60hz gaming (GPU Passthrough) and (if possible) for experimenting with OpenCL/OpenGL/Vulkan under Linux.
