Chariots of Fire is known and so is Vangelis.
Conquest of Paradise... I know that but forget the name right after I come accross it!

Conquest of Paradise is from the OST of the movie Christophe Colomb IIRC.
Great music anyway.

Edit: got the movie right, but title wrong movie's name is 1492: Conquest of Paradise (1492: Christophe Colomb in french hence the confusion ...)

The Blade Runner OST is a perennial favourite of mine, it's kind of a weird mix of dated/outdated, contemporary but not, I listen to it ever now and then because things regularly remind me of it, even the Akira soundtrack in places.

I recently recommended Vangelis & Jean Michelle Jarre's Oxygene to a TSF member, @Ceres, who was on a quest to discover electronic equivalence of epic orchestral arrangements. Perhaps they will drop a few remarks of their discoveries here in this thread?

I'm a fan. Here's an entertaining, slightly prickly interview from 2011. The poor interviewer is a bit out of his element.

He's known as a pioneer of electronic music, but I think of him more as occupying a zone between analog and electronica.

I did not even know "being awesome" can be a talent^^

Its insane, hes using his own hieroglyphs? It looks like he is.

He is. Mostly it is small images of the instrument punched into each position on his entirely custom set of controllers. The whole setup sans the keys, is build specifically for him by industry behemoths. The foot controllers each control one of the white midi controller boxes which in turn controls one or more synth(s) in a rack somewhere. All the sound that comes out when he press the keys are not just from those couple of keys we can see in the video. I would love to see the rack(s) of synths being controlled.

some vangelis gear porn
