NASA has been working on using lasers to beam Wifi signals, using the Moon! The download speed is a very respectable 622 mb/s. However, the biggest limiting factors are the distance (384,633km) and the speed of light (300,000 km/s), two things we cannot control, which makes the ping a little long for most people's taste. However, the download rate is mountains above the average for most people, on par with some of the High fiber optics transfer rates. Looks promising though!
God, I can only imagine the latency. Haha. The ping would be through the roof. But this is a pretty decent idea.
Ping is between 2-3 seconds, not suitable for gaming.
