Using sim card slot on motherboard via API?

Hey,

I decided to build my own pfSense router/server combo and decided to buy this guy https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XRHZH26/

To my surprise, it has a sim card slot. I've listed /dev and there's a device for the simcard. Is there any api/utility to access the sim card, receive or send events/sms/calls with it? I haven't found any solid info apart from https://n00bsys0p.wordpress.com/2009/08/26/sending-recieving-sms-with-a-3g-device-in-linux/

Any api or tutorials are greatly welcomed!

I wonder what you'd want to send and recieve

Receive "Hey Tom, some with mac ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff is trying to connect to your wi-fi"
Send "system.wifi.state=off"

Mainly just theoretical practice, testing stuff, should be quite fun"!
