so to get the vmware suite and horizon view working i have to use MS AD, i also have to have local DNS of some sort (despite the myth you don’t HAVE to use AD’s DNS i have links to prove it) but is it possible to set up AD and DNS and still have all the home stuff not have to rely on it so it can function when the AD server is offline?
Sure … AD and DNS go hand in hand, so when you setup your AD domain, manually assign “servers” to look to it for DNS. Your “home stuff” can continue using whatever DNS your internet router provides via dhcp.
In other words, don’t point your home stuff at the AD DNS server, only point servers at it.
