Ok, I have done some digging and I know this problem has plagued people for years. Most of the post I have found across various forums are a few years old though, so I am not sure if there is a better solution these days. Situation is this, primary monitor is displayport connected, secondary is connected via HDMI. When windows puts monitors in standby the displayport monitor basically gets disconnected and all windows on my desktop get shuffled when I awake sleep. As I understand this is 'normal' because of the way displayport operates, normal or not is there a way I can keep it from happening? I don't want to disable monitor standby since my computer stays on a lot for rendering, I can switch back to DVI-D, but I was hoping to utilize the displayport for various reasons. This is on windows 8.1 64bit on latest AMD Omega Drivers (14.12) I am using a VESA certified displayport to mini-DP cable to a LG 27mb85r which is a commercial grade color managed display.
Guess no one has run into this? Bummer, tried a driver sweep and reinstalled the Omega drivers and still no dice. Apparently there is no way to keep your desktop windows arranged properly with displayport unless you use some 3rd party software that 'kind of works' apparently this happens with nvidia also, but they may have implemented something to fix this?
