Well I have a 5850, and I really wanted three monitors. The problem is I didn't feel like dropping another 30 dollars on an active converter. So I put my 9500GT in with it as well, and I plugged in my third monitor. It works great. I haven't had a single problem with it yet. has anyone else done this?
Note, I just installed the normal drivers.

Ya I did that with my 6870 I added a hd 5450 that I had laying around to run my second moniter because as you probably know you card will run at higher clock speed when you have multiply moniters and it annoyed me lol and it solved the problem

I would've made the 9500GT dedicated to Physx.
What you did actually sounds like a bad idea to me, in my opinion the cards will heat up quite a bit if you put them under a heavy load. But if the temps are ok and everything works fine, then, who cares. Whatever makes you happy.
