Using 2x8gb memory sticks on a Motherboard that only supports 16gb ram

So I have a gigabyte 880ga-ud3h that says it supports 16gb ram, it has 4 slots, so I asume that each slot only supports 4gb of ram each. I read somewhere that 880 chipset supports 32gb ram. I already have 2x4gb memory. So I was wondering if i coul use 2x8GB ram with 2x4GB ram for a total of 24GB of ram or should i just upgrade to a new motherboard

NO, you can only use up to 2x8 gb or 4x4 methinks
