In the last few months prices of used enterprise SSDs increased by a lot. In January Kioxia cd6 7.68TB costed just 420USD. Now the same drive, from the same seller is ~55% more expensive. Not very appealing for drives with ~2-3PB written.
Wendel talked a while ago about incoming SSD price increases. Flash manufacturers are cutting production because of overproduction. Are we at the peak of the price increase for used hardware or will prices continue to rise?
I was planning to upgrade SSDs on my ceph cluster to 7TB devices but got on that train too late and purchased only one before price increase.
I’m thinking about buying at least 2 more to fix my storage layout and I’m wondering do I have to hurry, will prices increase again?
Also, if you want could you share your successes and failures buying enterprise NVMe devices from ebay?
