Use laptop as second screen over network?

So I managed to do this a few months ago, but it was so difficult to find the program that now I can't remember what I used xD

So the goal is to use my laptop as a second screen for my PC over WiFi.
The program I used was actually new and seamless. So all I had to do was install the program on my desktop and my laptop, that's it. Non of the faking a second monitor stuff.

Anyone know of the program? I think it may have to be paid for, but that isn't an issue ;)

Splashtop??? The only one that comes to my mind at the moment. There are quite a few though.

Is this a sceond screen or just controlling over the network? TightVNC is a better alternative to Splashtop, otherwise I don't know of a program that can make another screen elsewhere.

I've been using iDisplay. It's fairly decent.

I've done this before using teamviewer, somehow tricked windows into thinking there was an extra display then viewed that display with teamviewer from a laptop.

+1 Hacker Cred to SpaceCat.

It'll be +5 if he documents this awesomeness.

Found it again:

  1. Right click on the desktop, click 'Screen Resolution'
  2. Click 'Detect' on the next screen
  3. Click 'Another display not detected' and under the multiple displays option select 'Try to connect anyway on: VGA'
  4. Click 'Apply'

Then remote in with teamviewer and switch to the display you made above.

@thedmbarlow Can I trade in my hacker cred for custard creams?

Sure, but not to me. I'm deathly allergic to dairy products and stay at least 3-5 feet away at all times, so can't sell 'em, sorry.

Yeah, I've tried method before. It's to inconsistent and doesn't work on a lot of GPU's.

You could use Synergy to control your Laptop with the mouse and keyboard of your other pc. Technically not a second desktop, but should work okay for browsing and stuff, also supports drag and drop.
