USB sound driver crash in WIn10 VM

I’ve got a GPU pass through set up mostly working, but have one puzzling problem remaining. I have a Win10 VM with a GTX 1050 Ti and a USB sound card. I’m using USB for sound because my monitor lacks an HDMI or DP input.

The USB device (https://www.amazon.com/external-Adapter-Windows-Microphone-SD-CM-UAUD/dp/B001MSS6CS) works great in any other environment, but crashes in the Windows VM. I can play games for an hour or two before audio stops playing, but if I hit the “stop” button during playback on www.youtube.com or play.spotify.com, the driver crashes. I can re-enable audio by restarting the Windows Audio service from a admin command prompt.

Any thoughts on how to make this more stable?
