USB or Thunderbolt SSD

So in the near future ill get a decent macbook pro. as of right now i'm gaming on a shared 27" iMac and my dad just ordered a retina iMac (witch i might spend some time on^^) to avoid jamming all three SSD's full of game i want to get a external SSD... Just wondering what are the pros and cons in therms of gaming that Thunderbolt has over USB 3???

Thunderbolt is a faster interface. USB 3.0 is more universal. Even with USB 3.0 you should get decent read/write speeds.

I'd get USB so you can use it with computers that don't have a thunderbolt connection.
