Usb Extender for a mouse

Hi guys so this is my question;

Will a usb  extension cable will add any latency to my mouse/keyboard?

I really can´t reach my pc with the original. I´ve seen on other sites that an usb extension to a usb hub and then to the mouse could work.

Any ideas?

It should unless you are planning on an insanely large extension, but a 1 meter extension cable shouldn't increase latency

The problem is that i need it to be 4.5m long because i am making a setup from my htpc to a monitor sitting near it. I read that for those leghts the timings for the actuals mouse cord lenght get messed up.

It should be fine.  5m is not that long and it should not add any latency.  I would imagine that you would need a very long extension like 50m to see any sort of difference.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure that by buying a wired mouse with an extension over a wireless mouse i wasnt going to end up with even more latency than with the wireless..

Btw what video input would you choose for the same lenght; display port, dvi or hdmi

I thought it wouldnt matter because they all carry a digital signal right?

It doesn't matter what you choose to use, you can get all 3 in 6 meter lengths
